"The Adventurous and Energetic Science Major ng Binanuaanan"

ABOUT ME

As a science teacher, it is my goal to create a teaching strategy that has been effective for my students, considering their capacity, abilities, and skills, since I am handling a high school learner. I am passionate about teaching different concepts of science so that my students will be interested in exploring, experimenting, and becoming familiar with the elements present in the universe. I enjoyed watching my students learning and at the same time having fun while discovering the world of science. That’s why I give the best of my ability for them to be inspired and to love the science subject.

TEACHING STYLES

Interactive activities like board work, experimentation, creating art, and individual recitation with point exchange are a part of my teaching style to allow students to enjoy their work while using their psychomotor and critical thinking skills. To get my pupils' attention, I constantly use interactive PowerPoint presentations. I gave them free reign to experiment and construct creative pieces. I also use techniques like calling on them, use any kind of claps, performing in a group, and using pertinent real-world situations. Of course, I always greet my students with a smile and a positive attitude throughout our class because I believe that the teacher's positive energy may encourage students to collaborate with one another and participate in the lesson rather than feel bored.

TEACHING EXPERIENCES

The teaching internship was the best experience I ever had in my 4 years of pursuing my education course. It was like a roller coaster ride, which gave me mixed emotions every day of my journey in the real world of school dealing with the different attitudes of students and teachers. During my internship, I faced a lot of challenges, from doing detailed lesson plans, crafting instructional materials, and creating interactive PowerPoint presentations for my everyday lessons to waking up early just to prepare and fight for another day even when I didn’t have enough rest and didn’t take any breakfast since I couldn’t have the courage to eat because my body needed to rest, but my mind kept saying that I needed to go to school.

But one of my biggest conflicts was the interaction with students considering their attitudes, way of learning, and thinking, and also challenging myself on how to encourage my students to always go to school with the cases of absenteeism. Meanwhile, I discovered myself being approachable with the students, even though sometimes I tend to be strict just for them to listen attentively and be cooperative. I always observe their behavior and make some adjustments to fit with them and catch their interest in learning. Luckily, I have a cooperating teacher that provides me with the tips and strategies that help my teaching improve, and I think of techniques that really create a huge impact and become effective for my students learning.

About Us

We are a group of ten student-teacher interns from the College of Development Education - Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CDE-CBSUA). We call our group, Team Isarog, as a symbol of the community we were assigned to; and as a symbol of the tenacity of a mountain that we showcased during our internship journey. For 2 months, from February 5 to April 4, we had the opportunity to complete our internship journey at Altamarino-Clasio High School (ACHS) in Curry, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Through our teaching internship, we had many learning experiences as we engaged in meaningful classroom experiences, crafting lesson plans, delivery of instruction, and making connections with the entire ACHS community, from our peers to the students, cooperating teachers, the school head, and the school's faculty and staff. This e-portfolio highlights our journey as student teachers - showcasing our achievements, outputs, our school, our reflections, and our growth as we prepare to become educators with confidence, competence, commitment, and compassion.
