ABOUT ME

As a mathematics teacher, I am aware of how high school students perceive the subject. I want to change their perspective and mold it into something positive. My goal in teaching is to make students love studying, and my first step is to stop them from disliking subjects that are difficult for them to learn from.

TEACHING STYLES

My teaching style incorporates gaining attention from students, mathematics is a subject that most students sleep on, so I always try to pull the eyes and ears of the students: my usual tactics are, making them do actions such as standing and clapping. I also employ a mix of contextualized activities from nearby communities, engaging students to partake with interest actively.

TEACHING EXPERIENCES

During my internship journey, I faced many challenges. One of my biggest hurdles was the interaction with students, with a strict character, some students tend to be less approaching… I improved my interaction with my students by becoming much more approachable through kind gestures and other tactics, which worked for most. Moreover, some students rarely approached me, I learned that impressions make a big impact. I am confident in my teaching strategies, but I have learned from my cooperating teachers and my peers about many more techniques that can help me improve. I have improved so much within just 2 months at Altamarino-Clasio High School, all thanks to the positive community, environment, and supportive peers that surrounded me during my teaching internship journey.

About Us

We are a group of ten student-teacher interns from the College of Development Education - Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CDE-CBSUA). We call our group, Team Isarog, as a symbol of the community we were assigned to; and as a symbol of the tenacity of a mountain that we showcased during our internship journey. For 2 months, from February 5 to April 4, we had the opportunity to complete our internship journey at Altamarino-Clasio High School (ACHS) in Curry, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Through our teaching internship, we had many learning experiences as we engaged in meaningful classroom experiences, crafting lesson plans, delivery of instruction, and making connections with the entire ACHS community, from our peers to the students, cooperating teachers, the school head, and the school's faculty and staff. This e-portfolio highlights our journey as student teachers - showcasing our achievements, outputs, our school, our reflections, and our growth as we prepare to become educators with confidence, competence, commitment, and compassion.
